We captured some great videos of WT on Sat.
Now that I give him finger foods he gets a little annoyed when I feed him something on a spoon. He LOVES to feed himself - and wastes no time :) Saturday morning pancakes!
He was also lucky enough to acquire a baby walker this weekend. Little dude loves it! Here is his first attempt. He's a pro at walking forward... just needs to practice steering and reverse now :)
He brings us so many smiles everyday!!

February Firsts

It's been an exciting month!
Roo is all about some food. He even likes to help us shove the spoon in his mouth :) We started with the rice cereal and moved quickly to veggies. So far he's had carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and spinach. Next up will be butternut squash, peas, and avocado.
With the additional of solids his face that had really slimmed down is plumping back up :) He's gained almost a pound in 2 weeks. Also makes for more exciting diaper changes. Motivates me to keep up with ECing!!
On our trip to Snowshoe we got a chance to check out their Split Rocks Pool. Luckily it was heated! He really didn't have much reaction. Stomped his feet, stared at all the action around him, and chewed on his toy just like he does when he's not in the water. We went down the slide and he was just chill. Didn't really get into splashing. Just kinda hung out :)
His biggest adventure was probably the road trip to Charlottesville to see Yonder Mountain String Band. Thanks to a friends recommendation we purchased these earmuffs to protect his ears. They worked great! Of course he was very into the people watching when we first got there. About 30 minutes into the show I was able to soothe him to sleep and he slept for the remainder. It was a fun family trip. Daddy REALLY enjoyed it :) (Mommy is the one who barely made it to 12:30AM when the show ended!)

The not so fun stuff.
Until this month we've been lucky with a happy healthy baby. He's still mostly happy despite these not fun issues:
Pretty sure this is a result of the antibiotic I was on in early January. Did my best to eat probiotics - but I didn't realize this could show up weeks later! I can't help but think this has been the culprit of some of our nursing/sleeping issues - but it really doesn't seem to bother him. Throw in a grow spurt and possibly the start of teething you have a baby boy who's been a bit more high maintenance than usual :) The prescription from the doc did absolutely nothing. I've been swabbing his mouth with apple cider vinegar and seen a HUGE improvement. I also started giving him yogurt yesterday. Tonight you could barely see it. After 3/4 weeks I'm REALLY hoping we've killed this yeast!
Sunday night was probably his worst night sleeping. He was up at 11 for about an hour - then again at 2 to eat and up for good around 5:30. I assumed it was teething or constipation BUT he awoke with pink eye. Poor little guy. Call me crazy but I'm treating this with breast milk. (many uses) (healing power) I figured it was worth a shot. This photo is from morning #2. It was still oozing the infection but the white of the eye was much less pink and the eye itself is less swollen. Throughout the day it has continued to look better. Go magic milk!
Last night he slept 11.5 hours... so maybe Sunday nights misery was constipation after all. Who knows :) Here's to hoping for a healed Roo this week!

Sunday was a beautiful day and we took a break from 'getting things done' to see how Roo would like the park.
The swings were a hit. He had his normal "no expression I'm focused on takin' it all in" face on so we did what any good parent focused on capturing first memories would do and made crazy noises to coax some grins out of him!
He was a little less excited about the slide - mostly confused :) We'll need to work on that.
After the park Daddy took Roo on a daddy date to Lowes and to pick up ribs & wings for the big game while I went on my 4 mile run. Believe it or not the run was relaxing. I enjoyed the mommy break & glad the boys got some bonding time!

Roo was sporting a special outfit yesterday in honor of a big event this weekend!
I found him staring up at me after a nap on Sunday -- he's a tummy napper.
We've had a SUPER fun time this week with naps. I lay him down. He flips over. He cries. Hopefully he won't take long to adjust to sleeping on his back unswaddled!
He's a little shy and only performs this trick when no one is watching :(
I swear he grows daily - but I have a feeling this next month is going to be an explosion of change. Sitting Up, Mobility, Teeth?, Solids?.... good times!

Nursery - ready and waiting

We (OK I) tried to keep things simple when it came to creating the nursery. I was one of 'those' Beanie Baby collectors and haven't been able to part with any of them - but now they have a good use! The nursery theme is loosely 'animals' :)
I wish I had a before picture when this was the office - but as usually I get too excited about a project and forget to take those. The room has remained blue but we did upgrade the windows, add plantation shutters, and install a ceiling fan/light! Love them all - makes me wonder why we waited for 'nugget' to make these improvements!
Since there are no curtains I knew I wanted to add a little more color to the space. I found the striped fabric at Ikea and made the closet curtains, book racks, bed runner, and pillow. Todd has pointed out I have thing for stripes. True - but these are not the SAME stripes that are in the craft room!
And looking the other way you may not even be able to tell it's a nursery. We've kept the queen bed in here so we have room for all the guests we love to have visit! Haven't quite figured out what to do with the wall - maybe a headboard? Maybe some artwork.
The furniture is from one of our clients Westwood Design and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I've actually been crushin' on this crib since they released it a couple years ago! Once we know nuggets name I hope to hang these adorable initial prints above the dresser.
The rocking chair in the corner is from my Great Aunt's house. Always fun to have some family pieces. Hopefully it'll be super comfy to spend lots of time in!
The 'artwork' is my design idea. We've had friends and family coloring in 'animal' pictures and writing little notes for nugget. I love this personal touch and we'll be able to scrapbook the pages for keeping. I figure maybe next year I'll hang the alphabet and eventually nuggets own artwork!
I saw the book sling idea over at Penny Carnival and new it would add some fun to the space. Super easy and fun to make!
Last but not least the closet. I spent lots of time pouring over the Ikea catalog deciding how to better use this space. We have a bookshelf on the right and two stacked Trofast frames. They work great in the closet now and will be great transitional pieces later for toys!
Now all we need is a baby :)
