I have discovered a new TV show I really like. Someone was watching it at the gym last week.. now I'm hooked. It's on BRAVO. Inside the Actor's Studio. I think it's some acting school in NYC. They have an auditorium full of students and interview actors and actresses. Not the dumb gossip stuff.. but about their childhood, how they got started, their tv shows and movies. A live biography. It's interesting. As described by the shows official site "For over eight years and more than 100 episodes, James Lipton has sat down with some of the world’s most accomplished actors and directors for penetrating, fascinating interviews. Lipton’s studious research and enlightened curiosity has inspired his guests to open up and confess their deepest thoughts about the art of acting." Click here to see if your favorite actors are on soon. I watched Bruce Willis this morning.
OK.. so we have started this Belly Off Bet at work. (or Pot Belly Club, call it what you want) It started between a couple of us that want to drop some pounds. We figured adding some friendly compition would inspire us and add some fun. So the goal is to lose 7% of your weight by March 10. Cost $10 to enter. Person who loses the largest % gets the pot. If you lose your 7% your good.. if you don't make the goal you have to throw in more money. Work of the bet spread like wildfire.. and now we have 14 involved. Yeah the money would be cool, but I just hope everyone is successful in dropping some pounds and being healthier. Ok so that parts all boring.. here's the funny part. Apparently some people are trying to increase their chances and sabatage everyone else. I came in this morning to find a hashbrown, kitkat, and snickers bar on my desk! Mean people :) It stinks this is during Girl Scout Cookie season too.. mmmm Animal Treasures!!!
haha... another funny story. So I get this phone call at work this morning... this woman introduces herself and says she's with the PGA Tour. Of course my first thought it that she's trying to get me to donate money or buy something.. then I think .. hmmm maybe they want me on the tour..haha. that quickly switched to maybe I won one of the numerous online contests I have entered and I'm getting a free golf trip with lessons from a pro. Well then she says she is trying to get in touch with the accountant of Internet Databases. Man people always look at our site and out of their 4 choices, call me. Just cause I'm the only girl.. do you think I look like a secretary :) JK! Anyways.. she was calling about one of the sites we do. PGA TOUR HOME No free golf lessons for me :(

that's what I felt like today has been.... lots of planning in progress.
- The snowshoe trip has come together. They released a great deal like we were hoping! It is going to be awesome! And maybe my last snowboarding trip of the year :(
- Booked my flight for Orlando in Feb :) It's been almost a year since I made it down to visit Heather :) Our grand plans include a mystery theater dinner and the strawberry festival staring Lonestar!
- Officially registered for the Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville TN. There's no backing out now! The pre-training to the actual training has already begun!
Hmmm.. this weekend was fun. One funny thing I can remember. C took me out to a really nice dinner on sunday night. They had a martini menu so I was scanning it. Not a big martini fan. Anyways I see one that's Vodka, Southern Comfort and Peach Schnapps.. hmm not bad. Then I look at the name. THE BIG COUNTRY. Of course I had to get it! I thought ya'll would get a laugh out of that!

Bachelorette

Last night was very fun! M and I went to the woman's basketball game. They whooped up on Villanova. Then we came home and watched the premiere of the Bachelorette. I had decided I need to start watching some TV. I don't need to watch it all the time or anything.. but I'm usually so busy I never watch it. Well that's going to change :) Maybe this will be 'my show' I try to keep up with :) haha. It's fun just to sit back with the roommates and chat over senseless dramas or reality TV :) So Meredith got to meet her 25 suitors last night. Who knows how much time she really got to spend with them, but it didn't seem like much, then she had to let 10 go. At this point.. I can't really keep them straight, I don't know how she can! Anyways.. my white rose would have gone to Lanny. I am glad she kept him around so we can get to know him. A horse breeder from Texas, grew up southern Baptist, of course he's my early choice! Seems from the previews the guys get pretty competitive and vicious. Should be fun! Now if I can just remember to watch it, or tape it.
walking mailboxes

Driving home last night.... minding my own business... hmm.. something's different... what's missing... THE MAILBOX! I'm looking at the ground wondering if someone ran it over.. granted if they did... they would have hit the telephone pole too! There's nothing on the ground.. it's gone. Then in my periphial (sp?) I notice a mailbox across the street. Freshly in the ground. What the... Yep.. so we have a new mailbox... across the street. No longer can we drive up to it and lazily get the mail from inside the warm car. And now the apartment has it's own mini mailbox. You'd think someone would clue us in to stuff like this! Oh well :)
So this morning I'm sitting at Hardee's with some friends. One of them excitedly tells me she has decided she is going into the Peace Corps. Cool. The she proceeds to tell me how she came upon this decision. A. She has decided she wants to eat in 20 different countries, I guess to check out their cultures and B. She wants to kiss guys from 20 different countries. That got me laughing! haha. Probably cause I could see myself signing up for that mission. I wonder what she would find out about the kissing cultures :) haha As a coworker says... she should just join the miltary :) Never a dull moment at Hardee's Party! (HP)

Square Ring

This might be a long story.. sorry... there is a point..
Prologue:
My great grandmother IDA MARY had a childhood friend named ALTA, she liked the name so she named one of her daughters ALTA. ALTA was sister to my grandmother IDA MAY. Supposedly when IDA MAY was on her way to the hospital to deliver my mom, my uncle (4yrs old at the time) pipes up and says why don't we name her ALTA JEAN. So now we have ALTA #2. Obviously...me being ALTA JILIAN, I am ALTA #3. So there you have. 3 crazy women named ALTA, who all surprisingly have very similar personalities.
Prologue 2:
(ALTA, the storyteller, tells this story way way way better then me!)
ALTA #1 had a step son George. Who I have heard nothing but good things about. A real character, charming, etc. Once upon a time, I think in his college days he happened upon these square rings, they made him think of ALTA and her square personality (or something like that/whatever that means) and he bought them for her. He passed away maybe 15 years ago in a construction accident. Anyways.. his reasoning for buying these crazy rings reminds her of who he was, and they are special to her. You get the picture.
Story:
Well a couple years ago she gave a ring to me and a ring to my mom. So each ALTA has a square ring :) I love it. And it always reminds me of family. Just one of those special things I own, no material value, but a world of value to me. I wear it almost everyday!! A couple months ago I went to put it on, and it wasn't with my rings. No worries, I looked a couple places. At work, at my parents house, though all my jewerly, everywhere! And no ring. Really sad :( I have kept an eye out for it hoping I stashed it somewhere.. and just forgot. Somewhere safe :)
Ok here's the point of the story... This morning as I was leaving for work I grabbed my keys from the basket by the door.. and did a double take. Is that my... YES IT IS!! My square ring!!! What a way to start a monday morning!! It made my day!!
In addition it's sooooo warm. I think 33 degrees when I left the gym. That's a heat wave compared to the single digit temps at Snowshoe this weekend!!

... this is the most bloggable weekend I've had in a while....
Let's see it all started at the Wendy's parking lot in Princeton WV. Wild and Wonderful WV that is. Jill pulls up next to me laughing.. and proceeds to tell me one of the guys was trying to pee in a can in her car and couldn't stop.. so he overflowed all over himself... YES, Jill brought with her a bunch of wild fun rednecks from Galax :) haha. They could quote all of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour :) I don't care who you are.. That's Funny! They were so loud I'm surprised Applebee's didn't kick us out!! It was fun though :)
Saturday they had some demos set up at the bottom of one of the mountains. Found out they'd switch your bindings and you could ride a brand new demo board for 2 hours free... FREE... sign me up :) I rode a Salomon AMP 154. 'AMP - built on the new era concept, the AMP delivers extrenal flex separation for better freestlye riding' Whatever that means :) Anyways.. the board was stiffer then mine... so it responded way faster. I liked it! Plus it was cool to try out stuff for free!! Then I went back to the love of my life.. my K2 Luna 155 :) Either I was way worn out... or the boards were just that different.. it took me a second to remember how to snowboard :)
I played around with the setup of my bindings which was fun. I am learning more about them and how to change them for my maximum comfort/performance :) Very fun! Makes me feel like I'm not really a beginner anymore!
Even though all my muscles are spent, and something hurts with every movement, it was another great weekend of snowboarding :) And I am getting better!

Woke up to a beatiful snow this morning! Prob 3-4 inches. My wonderful Honda made it up the driveway!! Slowly.. but I made it! I bought some snow cables (kinda like chains) for my car today. I feel safer knowing they are in my trunk!! Hopefully all this snow will make for some great conditions at snowshoe! I am heading to the MTN with Jilly Jam and some of her friend from Galax. Sure to be a good time!
Guess what. My camera is fixed!! Woohoo! The replaced the whole lense! Of course it's at a shop in fairfax, so I won't actually get my hands on it until I go home again. But I'm excited it's fixed!
